About the Provider

The YWCA’s early childhood education center uses an early literacy and developmentally appropriate curriculum to ready children for school. In 2012 there were 85 children and their families that were served through the YWCA’s early childhood education center. The YWCA has partnered with Head Start since 2005, offering Head Start and Early Head Start services that monitor health, growth, learning and developmental milestones to income eligible families. The YWCA also collaborates with Early Childhood Family Education to provide support to parents with children in the YWCA Center. In the fall of 2011 we started a new project called Circles of Security with parents and caregivers at our Center. Focused on attachment theory and research, it works with the parents and child-care staff to give them new skills and tools to provide quality care and parenting. Successful attachment is the basis of future emotional and mental health in children and affects every aspect of their lives including the ability to learn. We are very excited about this project and are repeating it in 2012-13.
