About the Provider

CHILDCARE FACILITY THAT SERVES CHILDREN IN THE DAYTON AREA FROM 6WEEKS TO 12 YEARS OF AGE. OPEN FROM 6-6 AND 6-MIDNIGHT MON-FRI Young Dimensions Philosophy reflects our belief that children learn best from firsthand, hands-on experiences occurring during play. Our approach to Early Childhood Education is that the teachers builds upon, not directs or controls, the thoughts and actions of the children. Child-initiated activities foster independence at a time when it is important for pre-schoolers to begin to develop self-reliance. We resist the increasing pressure to teach young children facts and figures before they are ready and to focus instead on nurturing their special skills and abilities. Children actively playing are busy learning about the world in ways children learn best by exploring and working with people, materials and ideas. Children are much more likely to learn when they become intensely involved in projects of their own design. Our teacher's role is to ensure that the children choose and organize their own work by helping each child develop a plan, define a sequence of steps, and identify needed materials. Significant amount of time are spent in child/adult interaction. Talking together, sharing ideas and playing together are essential parts of our program. Ample space is important for active learning and the arrangement of our classrooms reflect the belief that children learn best in a stimulating, but ordered environment. The classroom is divided into well-defined work areas, and the materials in each area are organized to enable the children to express their own interest by choosing their own materials. Materials that can be used in a variety of ways encourage children to solve problems creatively. The teacher's responsibility is to create and maintain a physical setting that provides a balanced environment in which children's strengths and interest are valued. Our preschoolers are supported as they learn to communicate and get along with others. Young Dimensions Childcare's role is to expose children to learning, not impose learning on them. Children have a natural love for learning. We hope to cultivate this love learning and see it grow.
