Ymca Early Childhood Education

The YMCA Sports Center was constructed in 1991. The Sports Center was designed for the expansion of the YMCA Basketball program. Currently the Sports Center houses the YMCA gymnastics program along with our youth basketball and our summer adventure program. The Sports Center offers Men's noon basketball Monday through Friday. The Sports Center is also available for athletic rentals; please call the YMCA for more information. The Sports Center is located at 200 West Chestnut Street in Mount Vernon. A State Licensed Early Childhood Educational Program specially tailored for 3 year olds. This class provides a warm & nurturing "first time away from home" experience. Some of the many activities include: Arts & Crafts, Physical Education, Water Enrichment Lessons, Music & Movement, Shared Reading Times, Social & Emotional Development, Creative Play, Centers Activities that teach colors, shapes, letters, numbers and much more! A State Licensed Early Childhood Educational class designed with 4 year olds in mind! This class follows a curriculum that offers the following to our students: Arts & Crafts, Music and Movement, Social / Emotional Development, Health & Physical Development, Values Education, Story Times, Center Activities that build school readiness, Swim Lessons, Computers, Dramatic Play, Pre-Hand Writing Skills, and much more! A State Licensed Early Childhood Educational Program designed for children ages 4-5 who will be entering kindergarten the following school year. This program was created with kindergarten readiness in mind and to prepare students to move on to the next level of learning. Our curriculum for this class includes but is not limited to: Health & Physical Education, Social & Emotional Development, Phonics, Basic Math, Science, and Social Studies, Swimming Lessons, Computers, Listening Center, Arts & Crafts, Shared Reading with Story Enrichment Activities, Journal "Writing", Sight Word Readers and much more!
