Description: Since 1974, we have been in the business of answering the need for quality, affordable child care in the Rochester area. Our licensed programs are designed to provide each child with a variety of positive, healthy, and interesting activities throughout the week while focusing on character development, emphasizing the four core YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The staff are trained and experienced in working with children. Many of our staff have, or are working towards, degrees in education or in a child related field. The YMCA provides its staff with ongoing training throughout the year. All of our staff meet New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) requirements. Curiosity about the world comes naturally to children. That's why at the Y, we strive to offer children, ages Kindergarten-12, a variety of new and exciting experiences. In our before and after school programs, children explore and experiment, discover new ideas, work cooperatively in small groups and, consequently, learn to respect the differences and similarities within their own communities. Our innovative before and after school programs offer far more than just homework assistance - although we build in time for that as well. Children may choose their own activities from among many, including games, art, science, mathematics, technology, recreation and reading. There is always something different and exciting, from special events and field trips to physical activity and youth leadership projects.
