Description: Wolman Elementary opened in August 2012. The school was named after Arlan “Ray” Wolman and his wife Jamie. Mr. Wolman began his career in Katy ISD as the only science teacher at the only high school in Katy at that time, Katy High School. He then became the head of the Welch Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) where he has had an impact on thousands of student lives each year. The OLC created an outdoor classroom for students to learn in a varied environment. He also developed a six week summer program for year-round learning. He has worked with Boy Scouts to obtain their Eagle Scout Award through projects at the OLC and was involved through 30 years in the coordination of the Katy ISD Folk Life Festival.
