When my husband and I found out we were expecting with our first little girl in 2018, we went and toured several daycares and absolutely LOVED Woodlawn and the director at the time. We put our name on the waiting list with an expected daycare start date of March 2019. Our little girl was born at 23 weeks and passed away in the NICU after 5 weeks, so I had my husband call and take our name off the waiting list (I didn't want a surprise call letting us know a spot for our little girl was available- it would have broken our hearts). Fast forward to May 2019. I found out I was unexpectedly pregnant at 4 weeks. After I told my husband, I called Woodlawn to put our names on the waiting list. I was always assured that I called in plenty of time, and that we should be good to go for a start date of April 2020. I called them every 2 weeks religiously to check in and let them know we were still interested. They went through several director changes, and each time I spoke with someone they assured me we were good to go, but seemed extremely disorganized and even mentioned several times I called that they didn't see my name on the list. I called them 2 weeks ago checking in and asked ONCE more- "Are we good to go?" The interim director assured me that we should be good and that the new director would be starting the following week and would give me a call. I never heard from them. I called them today and they told me they were sorry, but that they wouldn't have any room for a long time and that they had 6 different waiting lists and that our daughter Arya's name didn't appear to be on any of them. Then she said that they've had people calling up and telling them their names were on the waiting list and they never really were- I guess she was insinuating that we were doing this? I am livid and devastated. I called my husband in tears. This would have been nice to know 9 months ago that we weren't going to have a spot. Stupidly, I didn't put our name on any other waiting lists because I was so sure we would be using Woodlawn. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, because they obviously don't have their stuff together. But at the same time, it would have been nice to know this months ago so we could have made alternative childcare arrangements. Now we are left with no childcare, and I have no idea what we are going to do. Waiting lists around here are long, so it's going to be impossible to find another decent daycare in such a short time. Not cool, Woodlawn. Not cool at all.
My husband and I looked at ten daycares before choosing this place. It has the best teacher to student ratio. My son's classroom is a very organized, clean and spacious room which he shares with six other kids. My husband and I are very satisfied with Woodlawn Preschool program and recommend it to anyone looking for safe, calm, clean and cheap environment for your little one.
