Description: WHEDco’s nationally accredited Urban Horizons Early Childhood Discovery Center, a Head Start program, serves 111 pre-school children from 20 different countries. WHEDco's full-day program offers a nurturing environment that helps children to develop confidence, think creatively, analyze information and communicate effectively. 100% of children in our program graduate prepared for Kindergarten, ensuring they begin their school careers at an advantage.
We also work with Literacy Partners to provide family literacy and ESL classes for parents, which empowers them to become more engaged in their children's education. In addition, our Family Support team connects parents to additional resources and provides family counseling.
Research demonstrates that investing in high-performing early childhood education can help close the educational achievement gap for disadvantaged children.
Take a look at our 2014 Early Childhood Annual Report for more information on the program.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues.
