Description: Winnebago Preschool first came into existence in the mid 1970's as a privately owned business, licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family services. In 1987, the preschool was sold to a group of parents who formed a corporation deeming the preschool a non-for-profit business. In 1989, the school moved from a Winnebago church basement to the present building on Benton Street, in order to meet state guidelines. The school is run by a governing Board of Directors made up of parents and/or members of the community. The Board of Directors holds meetings once a month. Parents of the school children comprise the voting membership when choosing the Board of Directors. Elections for the positions are held in October. Parents are encouraged to attend and/or get involved.
