2018-02-14 Complaint 13A.15.06.03F(1) Corrected
Findings: Complaint: The provider leaves children with her fifteen year old helper in the afternoon while she completes afternoon runs. The provider states she has a niece that will come over to the home and assist her with the children in care. The provider stated that her niece is 18. The provider said sometimes her niece will supervise the children in care when they are in basement, while one of her substitutes are located somewhere within the home. The provider's niece is not an approved substitute so she should not be left unattended with the children in care. The provider shall ensure all approved substitutes supervise and protect the children in care. Which means all approved substitutes need to remain with the children in care, with no intentions of supervising them from another area of the home. Correct Immediately.
2018-02-14 Complaint 13A.15.08.01B(3) Corrected
Findings: Complaint: Caller reports the children are being left alone early in the morning around 9 with no adult while the provider completes her school runs. Upon arrival to the home, the provider was not present. As this specialist was at the front door, the provider pulled up in a van. When we entered the home, one child (age 3) walked into the kitchen area where we entered the home and she was unattended. Then when I followed the provider to the basement area and there were two other children (both age 3) that were unattended as well. The providers husband and daughter were present in the home but both of them were in their bedrooms upon entry to the home. No one was within sight or sound of the children in care upon entry to the home. Even though the children in care were left unattended, the provider denied ever leaving them in the home alone. The provider states she would never leave the children in care within the home alone and that she usually takes them with her in the afternoon but will often leave them with her husband or daughter in the mornings. All children in care have to supervised at all times. Correct Immediately.
