About the Provider

Description:

In 1994, owner Nancy Mueller began providing childcare in her home. As a mother of three, Nancy noticed the importance of providing childcare that felt personal and a place where parents were comfortable leaving their children. As her business grew, Mueller opened her first center in 2000 in the Westgate Shopping Center. She then moved her business across the street to a building she had specifically built for her center in 2005. Most recently, she opened a toddler center next to Annette’s Restaurant in West Salem in 2008. Parents and families keep coming back to WSKC as it provides quality childcare in a homey atmosphere.

Today, West Salem Kids Care (WSKC) prides itself in being affordable, engaging and a welcoming environment for children and their families. WSKC offers year round care for ages two to twelve years of age. We’d be more than happy to offer you a tour, feel free to give us a call today!

Nancy mueller is an self employed at west Salem kids care. My kids were brought here when I notice she was over charging me, and few other parents. Seem no one report her until I did. I stop bringing my kids here due to her rude to her staff seem to be unprofessional from her. However I start to notice how countinousely she was having new staff to poor management she has.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I would provide zero stars if an option. The owner of this establishment is extremely unprofessional and does not provide quality care from my experiences. I had to contact the state of Oregon complaint department and file a complaint after the owner, Nancy Mueler, claimed to have provided my child medication for a fever and did not actually apply the medicine, didn't contact me to pick her up while she was sick. My six year old daughter had a fever for an undetermined amount of hours without actually being given the medication. The two tablets of medication were instead set and left in her cubby space, where I found them as I arrived to pick up and obtain her backpack I found them there, just sitting out on the low cubby shelf, in reach for any other child. So basically my child didn't take it, and it was left somewhere another child could have accessed it. This is absolutely not okay, and I told the owner it was left out rather than taken. She took no responsibility for the situation, didn't try to remedy the mistake. I was shocked that she didn't take any responsibility or any action to correct the situation. She just said she thought my daughter had taken it when she handed her the pills and said she was too busy getting ready to leave for a field trip. Nancy said she wasn't willing going to check under her tongue to make sure she took it. I told her I didn't expect her to have done so, but for her to at least try to apologize, take responsibility, and most importantly determine a solution to ensure this didn't happen again. She did none of those things, and this is the owner/director. So, especially due to her position and reaction (lack of responsiveness and lack of professionalism), as I immediately started researching an new facility to switch care for my children I also called the state department to file a proper complaint. They appropriately sent a certified worker to the site. The day after the site visit the owner told me my kids could no longer attend. This is obviously retaliation and completely unprofessional of her once again. I agreed they would no longer attend due to her behaviors and am very glad that my children are not in her incompetent care. I am also glad that I filed the complaint, because it was true of what happened, it wasn't some wild allegation, this actually happened, and was very wrong/unprofessional and very poorly handled. I wasn't about to be bullied by Nancy, which she did try to do and she sadly tried to coheres documentation to have me sign a statement that I refused to sign, with a false statement, I didn't agree to. Which again, like filing the complaint I have every right to do. I wouldn't sign this false, one-parted statement. It was all very inappropriate and unnecessary. On top of everything that had already happened, it was very concerning the way she tried to force me to sign a false statement and when refused tried to force a copy on my person. Again the state department took it very seriously and found it worthy to send someone out to the site. You can call them to file complaints and also to find information regarding a list of complaints for a certified day care facility, their number is 503-947-1400. I want to let people know because as a parent this is extremely concerning. The fact is that quality/professional care just absolutely isn't what is NOT being provided here. I have to speak out to hopefully protect others. I am glad that other people have has some positive experiences here, however it is important to note that it is not all been positive or quality for everyone. I urge you to consider finding better care for your little ones as I have now. It feels so good to now have a quality certified center providing care so I can work and know that my kiddos are in very good professional, more capable hands when I cannot be with them. It is night and day from this facility. Please don't risk the care of your children on this place when there are others for the same price that are so so much better quality.
