Wellesley Montessori School

The Wellesley Montessori School, established in 1974, is dedicated to providing a quality pre-school for 2.9 to 6 year old children in a pleasant, caring environment conducive to learning. The classes have 20 to 24 children of mixed ages with three teachers in each class. The classes meet five days a week, three hours per day (9a.m. to 12p.m. or 1p.m. to 4p.m.) We also have our Child Care Center for those families wishing for additional care (open from 7:30a.m. to 5:30p.m.) Affiliated with the American Montessori Society, we offer a full Montessori program. The students have exposure to, have lessons in and work with materials in the area of Practical Life, Sensorial Development, Geography, Math, Language (English phonics,) and Science. The children spend a part of their class in a group: singing, movement, show and tell, daily class lesson, stories and snack. They spend the other part of the class period independently working, playing and choosing their activities. We attempt to help the child learn to do for their selves, to be able to make appropriate choices, to develop a strong self-image, as well as to grow and learn at his own pace. The Wellesley Montessori School, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is a non-profit organization.
