J.O. Ford International MicroSociety School is a diverse / multicultural, Reading First (NCLB), Title I school located in an inner-city community of Richmond, California. The site was built in 1949, and was named after Jeston O. Ford, a city tax collector and assessor. Mr. Ford served on the Richmond Board of Education for 30 years. Ford is a Title I, Program Improvement, year 2 school with 94 percent of our students receiving a free breakfast in the classroom every morning and a free lunch. The school strives to provide a rigorous, culturally relevant, standards based curriculum for our students. Writing across the curriculum is one of the the major goals. The qualified and caring faculty will provide a rigorous, personalized, interdisciplinary and strong academic education for our diverse, multicultural student population so that they will demonstrate their multiple intelligences, self-directed learning and be prepared to perform successfully in high school and beyond. The students will demonstrate their abilities in critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication.
