I wish I could leave a lower review. Working here was my first child care experience other than baby sitting. I worked at this day care for over a year and a half, there never once was any raise or pay change. I’m actually pretty sure I got a pay cut towards the end of my working days there. I loved the kids and the class room I was in but my major issue was the owner would plat favorites on the other employees and make sure to show it. The kids in my classroom thrived but the nasty comments that I would receive from the owner and management were sickening. I had gotten hand foot and mouth disease from the facility but was told there was no way and was expected back at work in the same day as my diagnosis. During my time there, a kid had to go get stitches after a child threw a wooden block at the others head , the gape was decently sized but I got into some hot water when I had taken my 5 kids into the bathroom for diaper changes when the other worker sat on her phone. Thankfully the only thing I’ve taken from this daycare is a known fact that child care is what I want to do.
My wife works/worked at this facility. She has been in this field of work since she graduated school. The management here is absolutely disgusting. I was surprised to see that a previous employer also complained about the EXACT things my wife had told me. She loves what she does but absolutely hates/hated working here. The fact that she refuses to take our Child to this daycare even though she works there speaks volumes. We take our child across the city instead of here. The place is extremely understaffed and the owner is a complete rude, money hungry individual. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. There is so much that I can say about this place but I will not put her job at risk until she finds another. When I say this place is terrible... it really is... We will also be reporting a lot of violations to services. This place and the owner need to be ran out of business.
As a parent my child wasn’t receiving prime care. Ratios were always in disorder leaving one teacher to too many children on a regular basis. My child was mistreated and underfed while attending VKU. The owner never apologized and was always rude when speaking to me. As an employee I was over worked under paid and consistently mistreated by the owner. She has had multiple daycares in her name that have been shut down for various reasons, neglect being the number one issue, and is using another persons name to have her current daycare. I do not recommend this place for any family. If you are looking for quality care, this is not the place to go.
My son has been enrolled here since nov 2016, and has thrived! The staff is incredible & love him like he’s their own, the owner is so accommodating & helpful, & puts in extra effort to connect personally with each family. I recommend VKU to any & everyone.
Not enough staff, not enough food for the kids. Horrible management! Some times they’d get 2-3 saltine crackers for snack Bc owner refused to buy food for them. This daycare leaves much to desire
