About the Provider
The Child and Family Center (CFC) is located on the campus of the Rockefeller University in the GSR and Sophie Fricke buildings. Childcare and education at the CFC is available to families affiliated with Rockefeller University. Parents need to apply far ahead of the time that they will need childcare and education for their child as there is great demand for the spaces. Our families reflect the multicultural dimension of science. They come from all over the world to study and work here. We have as many as 26 different languages represented in our student body. Our teaching staff is also multinational. Many of the teachers are bi-lingual.
The parents' labs and offices are close by allowing them, when they have the time, to visit their children in the center. Some parents like to have lunch with their children, others like to come after nap time for a visit. This means that for the child and parents they don't have to be separated 8 or 10 hours a day; they can see each other during the day. The CFC is open 50 weeks a year from 8:30 to 6:00, Monday through Friday. We close the week between Christmas and New Year's, when the University is closed and for the week before Labor Day for the teachers' work week.
