I waited 6 months to get my 2 year old in daycare. His first day was December 14th 2020. I never got to meet his teacher (Ms. Rene in Sea Turtles Room) due to her always being busy when I drop him off, and parents cannot go to the back With Covid. after a few days of him being there, he ended up getting sick (the normal bug a toddler catches when starting daycare). When he started. he developed a pinch behavior. I thought nothing of it bc toddlers learn things from others. When I stayed home with him to take care of him, I noticed the pinching/grabbing behavior stopped very soon after. In between him being sick and being out due to sickness, and the daycare closing for the holdiays (xmass and new years) he came back, Jan 5th. After a couple days of him being there, I noticed the pinching started back up, this time, I noticed only when he throws a tantrum would he stop for a bit, and look for my wrist (only) to pinch me with his index and pinky finger. This continued for days past but I just tried to be ok with that being something he may have learned from others but it bothered me he only did this when he gets upset. During that week of him being there, I finally got to meet his teacher Ms. Rene during the middle of the week. She came out of the bathroom into the lobby, and Drew (manager of education) introduced us. Upon my son seeing her, he acted way different than he did with any other caretaker there. He started to scream and then busted out crying. I had never seen him cry that way with any of the providers or even at home. this was peculiar cry). When I asked her why he was crying like that, she told me he just needs to adjust back to coming there and to her. There was another one of her students that came in very soon after and he was perfectly fine. When he saw Ms. Rene, he bursted out screaming crying as well. His dad didnt notice the change in his toddlers mood bc it looked like he was in a rush. Ms. Rene and I were trying to talk but the boys were pretty irate arround her. Drew offered to take them down to the room and when he held him, both of the boys calmed all the way down!! Her and I got to talk (only for about 5mins) she told me how my son whines all day (which he is not a whiner in general, very happy baby), he plays well w the kids, he needs to get adjusted to being there etc. She was VERY short with me, looked annoyed, and she just didn't seem friendly. By the end of that week on Friday, after I picked my son up, we were putting on hand sanitizer like we do everyday. My son shows me his hand and says "oww mommy hurts" I looked and the side of his hand and skinned with a couple open flaps*pic will be attached* and there were some imprinted dots on there as well. I was pretty concerned at this point. Also upset no one told me something may have happened to his hand before I applied this alcohol based sanitizer on there!! that Monday, sent the daycare an email advising them of my concerns. I asked them if it was possible he could switch rooms and if they could review their cameras to make sure everything is ok if not. DREW KUEHNER(MANAGER OF EDUCATION). A few minutes before I had brought my son in that morning, he had emailed me back explaining there can be learned behaviors in the class and how we should set up a meeting to meet with his teacher etc.I came in, headed to spk w someone following the email . When I asked for him to review the cameras, he got defensive and said absolutely not, I have no doubt our teachers here wouldnt do such and hold them to a higher standard and since you feel the need to ask that, we are going to go ahead and dismiss your son bc of your trust issues. Jody and Drew sat there and told me how I am an accusatory parent, their employees wouldnt do such and he probably didnt cry when his hand got cut for the teachers to notice. and I asked them what are there cameras for. They couldn't answer. Jody said there are NO PINCHERS IN the class. When I reached out for help, multiple parents had problems with this place and refusal to replay cameras. PLEASE BE WARE!! I WONT GIVE UP!! When people question the management about this incident, the staff tells people They tried to offer me to stay and I didnt want that, i wanted something else, and it was a my way or high way type of thing... this is not true!! I have a voice recording of our whole conversation.
