St Sebastian

For nearly 90 years, St. Sebastian Parish School has provided a high-quality, catholic education to students in West Akron. While continuing our long tradition of excellent education in core subjects taught in a faith-based environment, St. Sebastian also stays on the forefront of educational technology and teaching methods. This year we celebrated the opening of our Innovation Lab, a maker-space classroom that houses an amazing array of educational materials and offers a large, flexible space for project-based, active learning.



Our school’s impressive technology resources include a 1:1 technology program for grades 6-8, more than 250 laptops and iPads for use by younger grades, SMARTboards in every classroom, a state-of-the-art Science Lab, and a brand new Technology Learning Lab featuring new computers and a 3D printer. St. Sebastian recently earned designation as a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) school by the Ohio Department of Education in recognition of our comprehensive curriculum that integrates STEM practices such as problem-based learning, critical thinking, and hands-on activities on all grade levels.



As a Catholic school dedicated to developing the whole student, St. Sebastian embraces STREAM education, which adds religion as a core component to the STEM approach. In addition to daily religion classes and weekly Mass, students participate in many service projects and our curriculum emphasizes service learning, such as harvesting produce from the school garden to donate to the Good Samaritan Hunger Center.
