St. Matthias Preschool

St. Matthias Preschool operates as one of the programs of St. Matthias Catholic Church. Since 2009 it has been part of the Catholic Schools System of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. The Administration and Staff of the preschool are under the direct supervision of the Pastor of St. Matthias Church and are also accountable to the Office of Catholic Schools.

The Preschool program aims to provide a high quality early childhood education to children ages 2.5-5 years old. It is a Catholic school which operates under all of the non-discriminatory policies of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. As a Catholic school, we aim to provide age appropriate faith formation as part of our parish faith formation programs.

The Preschool program offers a learning environment which promotes children’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development through a planned curriculum and activities. The Preschool prepares children for Kindergarten and assists families with extended full day care. The Preschool also follows the guidelines set forth by the Department of Social Services.

The Preschool is tuition based to cover the cost of its programs and operations. The Pastor and Parish Finance Council of St. Matthias Church, in collaboration with the Director of the Preschool, have responsibililty for the oversight of the financial and temporal management of the Preschool program. Preschool policies are developed by the Pastor through a process of consultation with the parish staff (which includes the Preschool Director, Preschool Staff, Advisory Boards, Parish Council, Parish Finance Council and appropriate Archdiocesan offices).
