Findings: Complaint: Caller stated that there may be more children in care than approved for. Caller stated that he observed 9 children in care recently. This specialist observed 6 children in care on today, including the provider's infant daughter. Even though there were only 6 children present for care,, 5 of the children were under age 2. The provider is only approved to care for 3 children under age 2 but there were 4 present on today. Provider informed that the number of children present in care at any one time may not exceed the child capacity number stated on the certificate of registration. The provider felt because one of the children was a "toddler" it was okay to provide care for her.. This specialist explained to the provider that a toddler is still under the age of 2, therefore they still count towards her infant capacity. This correction was made while the specialist was on site. | |||

My kids have gone to Ms. Karem and Katy for almost 3 years. Smartkids KM Family Daycare (I call it school) offers our kids great lesson, fun crafts and a lot of love and care every single day. My kids often want to go visit on the weekends and get sad when I say school is closed today! For a family that emphasizes education, the program here reinforces everything we teach and the added bonus is they also teach sign language and Spanish. They use different tools to assess where the kids are in various stages of learning and engage them in activities to challenge them. I am so happy I found this hidden gem. For the parents looking for a place filled with love and actual lessons so your children will thrive, this is the best place to send them. It is completely safe and I've never seen anything order. I will truly miss them when our kids graduate from this school.
We have been enrolled in this daycare since our son was 4 months old, he is now 16 months old. Our son has thrived in this daycare. He has met all of his milestones and is very social with his peers. Our son enters each day with a smile on his face. The center offers a structured curriculum to support learning and play. The providers have great communication with parents and I am updated throughout the day on my son's progress via an app. I am able to see what he is doing, his eating, sleeping, and pottying schedule which gives me peace of mind while I am at work. The center is always immaculately clean and well organized. Both providers care of our son like his is one of their own and we could not be any happier. I highly recommend this daycare.
Karem and Katy are amazing! Our child started with them after his first birthday and has been thriving under their care. He has greatly benefited from the English, Spanish, and sign language taught daily, and gets great interaction with other children. The app the center uses is so convenient and I love seeing what they do throughout the day. If you're looking for care, I highly recommend them!
I left a review over 3 years ago. Time flies! The 13 month old I originally posted about is 4 1/2 and I also have a 2 year old that still attend this daycare. If you are unsure about which daycare to use please give this place a shot. My children are so happy and love daycare. They do different activities everyday. Mrs. Karem has gotten rid of the paper daily activity logs and has an app she uses now. I get updates throughout the day when my children eat, sleep, play and go to the bathroom. I also get smiling happy picture updates. It is so reassuring as a working parent that my children are in a loving happy home when I cannot be there with them. My girls love this place. I literally cannot say enough wonderful things about Mrs. Karem and her family. They have gone above and beyond what you would expect for a daycare. I have pictures around the house of Karem with my girls along with other family members, because she is family to us. If you are struggling with the tough decision of where to leave your children while you are away at work, please give her a shot.
My two boys love their school. It’s not a daycare, it’s a school because my kids are constantly learning! There is a lot of love that goes into this center, from staff and friends, my kids always feel special and happy.
I really cannot say enough wonderful things about Smart kids. A cozy, clean & tidy place the most wonderful of all, however, is the fact that my son loves it here. That says more to me than anything else. When I see him hug Mrs. karem at the end of his day... I'm convinced each day that I made the right choice a few months ago. We all know how gut-wrenching it can be to choose a place that you hope will take wonderful care of your child. I can now say I'm so glad I chose Smart Kids above the many other day cares I visited. It is not your typical daycare. Mrs. Karem and owner treat him like their own children. It is a true learning academy as my son everyday is learning something new like songs, letters from the vocabulary and much more. Just love it ...
Mrs. Karem is wonderful! My 13 month old loves her and loves going to daycare. We get daily progress reports including meals, diaper changes, and activities they do during the day. She comes home with art work all the time and she has learned so much since she started coming here. Mrs. Karem has a great rate and runs an amazing beautiful daycare.
