The above review was written by a parent who we were forced to ask to leave the school do to the parents behavior. This is his retribution on our great school.
*****(PARENTS BEWARE******* ZERO STARS IF IT WAS ANOPTION*********** As a parent and active community member I think it's very important to write a review regarding this "child care center". It was once a fabulous place that cared for and fostered a healthy environment for children to learn in a safe environment. This changed almost immediately once the new owner (Hayley Tan Simon and her husband Douglas Simon (owners of DES Group, LTD )purchased the center. I've addressed my concerns to Haley Simon regarding several things
1)Recently having the gardener mix regular wood chips into the "child safe" wood chips that are used underneath the children’s playground area. When I asked her about it, she blatantly lied to me and said she did no such thing. I know for a fact she did and have proof she instructed the gardener to do so.
2) Accepting a child into the center that is not potty trained nor 2 years of age- this business is not authorized to accept children under 2 years old nor those that aren't potty trained as they don't have the proper waste disposal centers, etc.... Kids periodically have accidents however this child was approx. 1.4 years of age and nowhere close to being potty trained. This is a violation of the License they currently hold with the State of California
3) Having a known autistic child (may God bless him) in the class that was hitting the other children. This was not fair to the child nor other children that were placed in her businesses care (the autistic child needed a place to help him with those that have the credentials to do so).
Two months shy of my daughters graduation I decided to file a complaint with the State of California as I didn’t' t think it was fair for my child and the other children to be subjected to unscrupulous decisions of this owner. Luckily there are still a few great employees there although many have moved on and from what I'm told the remaining are currently looking for a new opportunity elsewhere. We asked them to insure our child's and the other children’s safety by not allowing them play in the unsafe areas on the playground. Upon being notified of my complaint by the State of CA, Hayley Simon, handed me a letter on her letterhead that she is kicking my daughter out. This is a direct violation of the State of CA regulations licensing requirement; section 101218 (b) Retaliation is Illegal when making a complaint to insure the safety of children. I talked to the owner 1st and when she blatantly lied to me i had no other alternative than to file a complaint with the State (concerned for all the children’s safety). The state is now in process of investigating the retaliation and have opened a 'case" based upon the info I supplied to them regarding retaliation, etc.. Shame on you Sierra Montessori Children’s Center, Hayley and Douglas Simon( that don't even live locally rather in southern California yet want to own a business in our community) and DES Group, LTD Again, shame on you!
