About the Provider

San Carlos-Belmont After School, commonly known as simply After School, has been providing the only licensed day care on campuses in San Carlos since 1981. In 1990 we expanded our service area to include Central Elementary in Belmont. We began After School as a way to provide a safe, caring and fun place for kids to spend the hours after they got out of school until their parents were able to pick them up. Little did we know when we began that we would continue to grow and evolve and would now be seeing our original kids coming through the doors to enroll their children in After School!

Over the years, times have changed and so have we but the one constant that has remained is that kids still have the same basic needs. They need someone who knows who they are and cares about them as an individual to ask about their day or to answer a question or share a concern. They need a healthy snack to tide them over from lunch until dinner. They need time to spend in a quiet space to do their homework and time to go outside and play a game or just run around with a friend. They need a place that they feel is “theirs” and that is full of games, toys, books, art supplies, building blocks and all kinds of things that let them express their individuality and their creativity. And finally, they need to have time to choose activities that they want to participate in and the freedom to choose to do nothing, if that’s how they feel after a long day at school. That’s what we believe and that’s what we provide at After School
