Description: The goal of Rainbow Child Care, Too! is to produce happy, intelligent, well-adjusted children. Here you will find a nurturing, educational environment for children of ages 6 months to 12 years. Classes include infants, toddler, preschool and before and after-school programs.
We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles and personalities. Our highly-qualified teachers and staff are committed to working within each child's comfort zone to ensure optimal social, emotional and educational results.
We are a One Star Rated center, currently working towards our Second Star! We have also partnered with the Child Development Council of Franklin County to provide a Head Start program for our children ages 3-5 years. Classes are kept to a low student-teacher ratio and often fill up quickly.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

I would give this provider 0 stars if the option were available. As a former employee (who left to go back to school), I can say I would never take my child to this center. The owners can't agree on how the center should be run. Tamara has a better understanding of the children's needs, however, Dan is "in charge" of the School-Age building, and his only concern is getting paid. The staff pays for many of the supplies out of their own pocket, because they refuse to get supplies that "aren't needed" (like glue and paint).
They teach the kids how to be DISrespectful by how they treat their staff (in front of the kids), all the while screaming at them when they are disrespectful to him. Dan would regularly yell at the teachers, even cussing at them, to try and pressure them into doing things his way, and would regularly insult the teachers, and question them in front of the kids. One day, a teacher had the kids cleaning up before they lined up, and he came out and yelled at the teacher "why aren't they lined up?" and when she responded that they were cleaning, he yelled "why is this place a mess, they are going to be late for school" even though it was 15 minutes before they had to be ready to leave. One of the kids later asked the teacher why Mr. Dan was yelling when they were doing what he wanted them to be doing.
Dan puts his own children on a pedestal, all the while treating other kids horribly. Once, a child "lost" a Nintendo DS game (that he had brought on an electronic day), and when his son "found" it, and admitted that it wasn't his, Dan told the other child "Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers" and to be more responsible for his stuff. This other child was a 6 year old who had just gotten the game for his birthday a week prior, but since his son wanted it, it was okay for him to keep it. He then lied to the other child's mother, saying he knew nothing about it.
At the same time, he treats his own kids horribly, screaming at his barely 1st grade son for not being able to do 6-digit subtraction by himself. His son started crying because he didn't know how to do it, and he just screamed that he was "stupid, and needed to figure his sh** out, because he wasn't getting up until he got the right answer." His son was 6 years old, and he was screaming this in the kitchen of the school age building, where all of the other children could see and hear.
Dan came into work late on multiple occasions, complaining of a headache, and would lock himself in his office, with black curtains pulled, to take a nap until he felt better. He would talk about drinking regularly, in front of the kids. He goes grocery shopping (for his home) during work hours, using the Rainbow buses, and put his Champagne in the fridge in the school age building until he could take it home. This fridge is accessible by the children at all times. They are told not to get in it, however, kids don't always listen.
Dan would schedule activities for his own children (including soccer practice that he coached), during times that required him to leave the school early. On these days, he would often leave the teachers out of ratio, sometimes by nearly double. One instance in particular, he left 2 teachers with 48 kids (ratio is 18 kids to 1 teacher, so there should only have been 36 kids maximum). While I understand that his children having activities is important, he just left all 48 of those kids without appropriate supervision. The school is licensed for 54 kids at one time, however we had 66 enrolled at one point. We had 59 kids scheduled to go on a field trip one summer, with only 41 spots on the buses, meaning the teachers were left out of ratio as the bus drivers had to make second trips.
One of the children had a rough time at home, and during the time she was at Rainbow, she ran out the front door, and when a teacher followed, she said "I just want to stand in the street and let a car hit me." When the teacher brought her inside, she talked to the girl and found out what was going on (peer pressure, and feeling like she had no friends). When the teacher approached Dan to ask how she should talk to the girl's mother, Dan said "You can't say anything, her mom would beat her for that." And when Dan called the girl into his office to see what happened (because he was on one of his many "lunch breaks" when this incident occurred), she denied it happened at all, so Dan accused the teacher of lying to get the girl in trouble, instead of trying to find help for this girl who was in serious need of some help.
