I am an employee

I only chose 1 star because 0 stars was not an option.
The only nice thing about this Daycare is the facility.

I am an employee

I worked at Joyland for a brief period of time and noticed a plethora of things. The employees turned over a whole lot. A lot of the kids were even pulled because of the inconsistencies. I noticed her yelling at parents -- who looked to be a little down on their luck. I heard her "dogging" employees to other employees. One time she tried to involve me in that mess, but I refused. Those who have said Andrea is BiPolar are not totally wrong. We didnt know HOW she would come in in the mornings.

Do not work here, and PLEASE dont send your children here.

Disgruntled Parent Feb 17, 2015

I enrolled my child in this daycare a few weeks ago to start next week. Took a tour of the facilities, which were mediocre. A teacher gave us the tour not the owner/director which was disappointing. I filled out the paperwork and paid the enrollment fee and submitted them to the daycare. I never heard anything back from them that the enrollment was complete, if my child was/wasn’t attending the school. The 40 dollar check cleared my bank account so i know they received and processed the application. I stopped by a few times that week during business hours to speak with the owner/director Andrea. She was not there any of the 4 times I stopped by. Instead i was greeted by the most unhelpful man I have ever met. He would stand at the door and just tell me to come back when Andrea was there. Which baffled me since i had attempted to do that so many times the last few times he said that. He refused to check on the application and never offered to have Andrea call me back.

The whole experience was very unprofessional and I will not be sending my child to this daycare. The complete lack of communication from Joyland and the conduct of the administration are disappointing.

I would not send my arch-enemies offspring to this center. The owner/director is very bipolar. I have witnessed her badmouth parents to staff, badmouth staff to other staff, berate employees, and just show complete unprofessional behavior. The employee turnover was very high, and children were constantly being pulled for her errant behavior.

I will never recommend this daycare to anyone. I'd be a terrible person if I did so. My son is 9 months old and on his first day "fell out of his crib". First of all.. The director did not communicate with anyone that my son was going to be coming. So when she left on vacation nobody knew what section to put him in.. 0-9 months or 9-18 months. Anyone with common sense would know to put him in 9-18 months because he's as big as an 18 month old, can crawl, pull himself up, and is just overall developed enough to be with older kids. Well, nobody there thought of that. They put him in the 0-9 month section with the infant cribs. Apparently, they go to put my son down for a nap (they set him down and ignored him) in the crib with the SHORTEST RAILING. The railing would come to the middle of his chest. So SOMEHOW he managed to grap onto the gate by his crib and pull himself out and fell and hit his head. He had a huge knot on his head that was purple and blue. They DID NOT CALL ME! Now someone please explain how a 9 month old has enough upper body strength to pull himself out of his crib? And if magically SOMEHOW he did pull himself out then how long were they ignoring him? Because he's not going to sit there quietly and just pull himself out. He's going to be upset crying trying to get out if that's even what happened. They also put an ice pack on his head and according to 3 different resources (job and family, another daycare, and childcare worker of 5 years) they are required to call me to tell me they are putting an ice pack on his head by LAW. They waited till I was about to walk out the door to tell me "there was an incident". They did not apologize. They acted like this was no big deal. I had to take my son to urgent care. There director wasn't in for almost a week after that. When I finally did talk to her she laughed at me when I told her she's required to call me to put ice on his head. She even said she didn't believe he pulled himself out of the crib. She said that maybe they are embarrassed so they aren't telling the truth. ALSO, my son came home with a black eye.. keep in mind he was only there for 4 days. With his black eye I didn't even notice, my dad did. I called and asked and they told me he didn't have one when they put him down for a nap. Then when i talked to the director she told me I was lying and that he didn't have a black eye (HE DID) and that I was maybe making this up to find something wrong. Which is completely ridiculous because WHY WOULD I WANT MY SON TO HAVE A BLACK EYE?! I'm completely appalled by this daycare. I'm sure the director will comment on this and then post a positive review herself like the post under mine. (You can tell because she posted a response to a disgruntled employee then right after that same time frame there was a positive post) People should not take their kids here. I'm reporting them to BBB, their licensing agency, and anywhere else i can.
