About the Provider

Description:

Recently a parent said to us “Thank you for loving my child. I don’t worry about him when he’s with you. You are part of our family.” We could not express our mission any better! We strive to provide our parents with the service of a safe and loving child care center with assisting in the day to day care of children while respecting cultural family values. Our daycare is new to the Hilliard area, but not to childcare. We have been in business for seventeen years, servicing the Upper Arlington & OSU areas. Recently, we opened in the safe and quiet area of Leap Court, just off Cemetery Road and minutes from I-270. Our program is an outreach ministry of the Families and Children's Ministries of the Crossing Community Church, which is building soon at the corner of Davidson Road and Britton Parkway in Hilliard. During construction, our church is temporarily meeting at 5000 Arlington Center Blvd. off Henderson Rd in Upper Arlington.

In order to encourage spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and cognitive growth and development, we use Creative Curriculum which allows us to incorporate the below activities into our plans. Creative Curriculum is aligned with the ODE infant toddler guidelines, early learning content standards for preschooler and ODE academic standards for our school age group. We place our own emphasis on our Bible studies, Mental Health and Nutrition awareness.

We match classrooms focus areas to the time of yearend the student’s interests, allowing our students to direct the class to what they are interested in, therefore making the information more meaningful to the child. We schedule special visitors, from time to time, to provide interesting programs for the children.

Was going to delete my previous comment because yes I was upset at the time of writing it. However, after reading over it that is honestly what I witnessed first hand. NOT JUST SOMETHING I WROTE BECAUSE MY EMPLOYMENT DID NOT WORK OUT. Plus, I chose to quit. I hear the center is getting better.... but who knows? I just know that being there turned me off from EVER sending my kid to a daycare especially that one....

Janet is the best Director of any Child Care Center in Columbus. We do not know what we would have done without her constant care and loving compassion for our Son during his formative years. As a business owner, I can recognize professionalism in others and I could tell Janet and her group were consummate professionals from day one! I was happy to have our Son in her care and the care of the Center for 4 years. Thank You Ms. Janet! You are the BEST!

Hello,

I believe the reviews by Catalina and Andy was written as revenge because Catalina's employment did not work out. The center in Upper Arlington was a Step Up to Quality Center (one of the first in Franklin county to earn this award) and the Hilliard location offers the same lesson plans, schedules and staffing however this process takes time to earn at a new location, and we are working on it... Andy put in an application and wished to work with his wife, he tried several time during her employment so one would think things could not have been so bad there. However Andy was not selected. I am troubled by there comments and would ask that anyone wishing to see our center come and do so.. we have been in business for eighteen years servicing Upper Arlington, OSU students and staff members, Hilliard, and Granville areas with child care. Look at our licensing reports (on line) and our Step Up Reports (on line) call Action For Children these are all professional agencies that assist child care center. Ask them about us... these are professional that know the requirements of licensing and quality care. Not just someone that thinks they know the rules!

If you are in need of child care please take the time to come and tour, YOU DECIDE. We have eighteen years of clients that 100 % of them would be happy to give a personal reference for our staff and myself. I have dedicated the past 34 years of my life to caring for children. I have even had two of my students come back and work with me as they have finished their own education for teaching. There is indeed a Susan and she is very important supporter of our center. I am the Director and do not have anything to hide. I am very proud of the work we do for our families and children. I will pray for Catalina and her husband (Andy) to find success and peace in their new career!

Respectful yours, Ms. Janet 614 777 5195

Disagrees with comment by Susan. I gurantee it is the director or assistant director writing the review. Interestingly enough, that comment was written the same day they posted an ad looking for help. I believe they are just trying to promote the center. Plus, there is no parent or teacher there named Susan. Plus, it would have to be an administrator. Who else would realize they got the number wrong?

Anyways, I am going to be fair. I would state the positives and negatives.

Positive

1. It's Christian. That was a postitive for me atleast. However, if you are looking for Christian care there are MANY places in Hilliard. I recommend trying Cypress, or Children's Castle because I know people who work at them and have said good things. I also know Merry Moppet and First Baptist Church have them as well.

2. The majority of the staff is awesome

3. Ms. Renee works there! She is an amazing teacher! She has worked in childcare for 25 years. She is fun, laid back, but keeps control.

Okay now for the negatives.

1. The center is unorganized. They have teachers combining classrooms here and there. There is really never a set schedule so the staff is frustrated and confused. The kids aren't used to having a set structure so they get pretty out of control.

2. If you are looking to work here don't unless you want to have no life. You will mostly work 40 or more hours every week, be required to get trainings, participate in any random advertising campaign they decide to do, and shop for things on your own unpaid time.

3. Safety- kids are not very safe here. I have seen a kid walk out on to the parking lot while the director and guardian were talking and I sat in my car and watched him because I was scared he would get hit. I have seen babies put on their stomachs, blankets and pacifiers in cribs, I saw a child take a metal bar and threatened to hurt the teacher and other kids. The children will be around bad influences and most likely will climb, get in fights, etc. I have seen it happen many times.

4. They open at 6:30 but the teacher who comes is always a few mins. late. So if you have to be at work at a certain time, don't go here.

5. They are cheap. Seriously, take a tour, you will see what I'm talking about. Half of their playground isn't even mulched. There is a cheap green flimsy plastic fence blocking it off. Which of course the kids go under anyway which is unsafe. The workers are responsible to go out on their own time to buy things to make the playground more fun. They are said that they will be reimbursed but they still do it on unpaid company time.

6. Again, they are cheap. If you are looking to work there you will always hear the director complaining about lights left on, water usage, and teachers wasting wipes. I understand wanting to save money, but teachers use the wipes necessary to get the child clean. Yes, they go through a lot of wipes, but they don't need to be lectured when they ask the director for more.

7. The director treats different people different ways. Almost any staff member wouid tell you that she favors the people who have worked there for years and are on her team. The others you either talks down to or never has anything postitive to say.

8. They mainly only follow licensing rules when they know they are coming.

Wish I had time to write more. But I could go on forever. If you have questions or comments about what I said I will check periodically and try to respond. I don't want to argue and it is nothing personal about the director or anybody there. I am writing this so people can make an informed decision.

This place is terrible. It's very unorganized. There is never enough staff in the building (1 teacher covering 2 rooms, etc). They are even too cheap to mulch their own playground. Employees were made to buy things for the children to do outside since the playground is blocked off and they were never reimbursed. The director is very rude and has no respect for the employees. Do not send your children here. Do not even work here. You can do so much better.
