We believe that every child needs and deserves the best possible care while his parents are working or going to school, especially those with special needs. We accept children with all types of physical, mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. If you are in need of loving child care, we can help. The founder and executive director of Precious Memories Child Care is Verna Kephart. She has been caring for Omaha's children for over 40 years. She has raised three biological children, two step children and many foster children through the years. She is still raising two children that she adopted from the center with special needs who are now teenagers.

Precious Memories Child Care is the life's work of a group of dedicated people who create a family atmosphere of love and care. This non-profit care center is helped thorugh the generous people who care.

In Omaha’s child advocacy community, Verna Kephart is named as one of the difference-makers in the lives of disadvantaged children. The children lovingly call her "Grandma Verna". She has cared for disadvantaged and special needs children for almost 50 years, opening Precious Memories child care center at 25th and Leavenworth Streets more than 20 years ago. The dedicated staff cares for up to 100 children. About half of the children are in foster care, removed from their homes because of severe neglect and abuse. Others are struggling with autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, lead poisoning or birth defects.
