There were many teachers at Palmetto that I believe genuinely loved my daughter, but Kim did not. I was very transparent with this facility about my daughter's behavioral problems and diagnosis of autism. She went to Palmetto for a year or so. Kim kicked my daughter out of daycare with no warning. I had approached her and had the candid discussion that I understood that my child's behaviors (which were neuropsychological and not discipline related) may not be something that her facility could handle but asked that she give me fair warning of this. On a Thursday, she called me at 10AM and said that I needed to get my daughter sooner rather than later. By the grace of God, her brother convinced Kim to let my child come back for one more day (Friday). This allowed me to give my employer warning that I'd have to take a short leave of absence. After this occurred, my daughter cried almost daily for two weeks and wanted to know why she couldn't go to her school. This fashion of my child's dismissal resulted in some serious emotional distress, and it was carried out in an inappropriate fashion. After my daughter was kicked out, I contacted Kim personally many times to attempt to get our deposit back from when my little girl started school there. She wouldn't respond to me. Strangely enough, she did respond to my ex-husband, so he was able to get the deposit. If you have a child with special needs, this is not the place for them. My daughter's own teachers at Palmetto were not informed that she was being dismissed. It is something that bothers me to this day, and Kim should be exposed for the hurt she caused my daughter and my family.
If I could give a 0 I would!!! My son was at PCA for almost a year. The employees are AMAZING, I feel like they all genuinely love the children. Kim on the other hand, I feel like she is just there to make money! I did not know Kim when she had the home daycare but from what I saw and experienced at PCA, she does play favorites with parents, children and even employees. I thought it was strange that her most of her family are the employees until I realized how bad she treated outside employees. I also know for a fact, that her “friend” parents are charged a lower tuition rate than the “other” parents. She increased tuition $10 a week while we were there. According to Kim it was to pay for curriculum and teacher salaries, Teachers NEVER got those raises she was referring to in her explanation of the tuition increase. And as far as curriculum, you still have to pay a curriculum fee at the beginning of the year.
There is one post on here referring to a drug addict son, I’m here to tell you it’s true and Kim sees nothing wrong with it! I personally saw pictures of her son doing drugs, called Kim to make her aware of the situation. She said, “She will handle the situation.” When I picked my son up from school that day, she completely dodged me, avoided me, and NEVER followed up with me about her son doing drugs and that fact that he was clearly proud of it to take pictures and post online. That was proof me that she didn’t see anything wrong with it and wasn’t going to do anything about it!! That moment I took my son out of PCA. My son will not be around people who are doing drugs!!!
One thing that I totally believe in and its if you don't see it with your two eyes and hear it with your two ears then you don't have a right to have a comment! The first sentence says " I am a friend of an EX-WORKER and I HAVE BEEN TOLD"!!! Enough said!
If I could rate a 0 I would. I am a friend of an ex-worker and I have been told so much it blows my mind. the employees are great but the management is the worst. The owner and her sister own the building and have fired the best employees they have had for no great reason but let her drug addict son who obviously comes there high work there. The co-director, Sharon, is very sexual in front of all the men and is obviouly messing with a few parents. she has been seen striping nude and changing in the middle of the class rooms. this place cpuld be so nice but the management has to go. The worst thing I heard was them giving medicine to some kids to make them sleep. That made me insane and I wanted to call the police cause I know I would kill if someone druged my child. Just be careful about where your child goes.
PCA has excellent teachers, but unfortunately the director/owner, Kim Baker, has no experience running a daycare. She operated a home daycare for years and then decided to open a daycare. Every good teacher that works at PCA quits because of Kim's treatment of them. She expects them to work well beyond what she pays them. Also, she is selective of her parents. If she does not like you she will find a way to dismiss your child. If you send your child here he or she will be taken care of but you will have no right to compain about anything, so BEWARE! If you do complain she will dimiss your child. This is not a daycare. It is more like a private school, so if you like being apart of a click that worships the owner, who is great at asking parents to do her job and clueless about her own daycare, then go to Palmetto Children's Academy. Also, if you like having your child moved from teacher to teacher each month and having to constantly adjust to new faces then go to Palmetto Children's Academy. Finally, if you want a director/owner who asks her parents to fundraise for her business then go to Palmetto Children's Academy.
