Description: Palcare has one of the largest infant care programs in San Mateo County, and is the only provider to offer flexible scheduling for families with extended hours, 6:00am - 11pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 8:00am 11pm. Palcare strives to maintain affordability by offering tuition rates that are 75% - 80% of market rate, as well as providing scholarships and subsidized childcare for low income families that qualify.
Today no one doubts that an excellent education is essential to each young child. Our society is beginning to see that great preschools help to ensure a prosperous future for all of us! Here in the Bay area, most young families are raising children while both parents work full-time, sometimes at more than one job.
In spite of a dramatic need, it is very difficult to find affordable, quality preschool education and child care that meets Bay Area parents’ needs. If a family needs flexible, or non-traditional hours, or is a low income family, the task becomes almost impossible!
Palcare was created in 1993 to offer a new kind of flexible, nurturing education and care, night and day, seven days a week! Today Palcare is a nonprofit school and child care center that serves over 200 families of all income levels. Through an excellent faculty, a rich environment, cutting edge educational practice, and active parent involvement, Palcare prepares young children from 3 months to five years of age for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
The center was designed using the quality standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the California Department of Education and “Preschool for All.” Palcare is a school where children and families can make relationships that will last, from the Infant Program through Pre Kindergarten.
Palcare is a nonprofit 501(c)3 community organization goverened by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of community leaders, child development professionals and parents of children enrolled at Palcare. Our funding comes from tuition paid by parents, the San Francisco Airport, corporate partners, the California Department of Education, foundations, fundraising and the generous donations of individuals.
