About the Provider

A cornerstone of Montessori philosophy is the understanding that humans progress through stages of development. The program levels at Pacific Crest reflect these stages of development by meeting the needs and interests that are unique to each developmental level. The Primary program provides a children's house, a special place for the young child to explore his widening abilities and interests in the world around him. The primary environment is designed to the size and capabilities of children from ages 3 to 6; it facilitates a sense of independence and develops their ability to make choices and follow through on a cycle of activity. The Elementary program takes advantage of the children's deep desire for knowledge, understanding and for activities that will allow them to exercise their imagination. Stories, lessons, manipulative materials and group work come together to create a dynamic and stimulating learning environment. The Middle School program creates a strong community of adults and young people, working together to find meaning and relevance in all aspects of life. By participating in the microcosm of society that is created in the middle school, students become aware of their strengths and of the ways in which they can contribute to their communities.
