About the Provider

Description: Welcome Vikings to another great year at Voorhees! I will be working diligently with the Voorhees faculty, staff, and PTA to create an exciting, safe, and nurturing community atmosphere that will encourage interactive learning, positive communication, and perseverance in the face of challenges. It is important to us that students look forward to coming to school, and participate fully in the learning experiences offered once they are here.

While there are some new faces to Voorhees this year, such as mine, there are also many consistencies. This year our school will consist of approximately 375 students with three classes at grade levels 1 through 5, two kindergarten classes, and two special education classes. Academically, we will be focusing on implementing the Core Curriculum Content Standards to keep students on target for learning in English Language Arts and Mathematics. With the standards as our guides, we will continue implementing Rigby Literacy and Math in Focus programs to help students understand content and achieve success.

Character is very important here at Voorhees. Showing good character not only helps build a positive atmosphere, it also helps children focus on their learning. There will be continued emphasis on the Six Pillars of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Fairness, and Caring. These character traits will be displayed throughout the school and will be discussed and practiced in the classroom. During the year, specific activities take place to give students further understanding of what it means to show good character. Character is the cornerstone of our school rules, which can be accessed on our site. Please familiarize yourself with them, as they are the basis for expectations of everyone here at Voorhees.

I look forward to getting to know each Voorhees family personally as the year progresses. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I look forward to a fabulous school year!
