Findings: Supervision Concerns. There were concerns a small child was found outside of the daycare facility unattended. During investigation, the health department determined a child was able to leave the facility, was unattended for several minutes before being located by a passerby and returned to staff at the facility. The Coeur d'Alene Police Department confirmed with the daycare staff that they were over ratio at the time of the incident. Resolution: The provider agreed to add a keypad on the front door of the facility to add a further layer of security. Picture of new alarm system were confirmed.

Findings: Outdoor Playground Safety Concerns. There were concerns that children were climbing on top of a falling apart play structure and able to access low hanging wires and cords. Additionally, supervision concerns were reported when staff were frequently seen on their phones. During investigation, there were no supervision concerns but there were concerns with outdoor playground safety. A play structure must be remove and not replaced due to the accessibility to wires/cords. Resolution: The provider sent photos showing that the play structure had been moved and is now in compliance with outdoor playground regulations.

Findings: Supervision Concerns. There were concerns that a child pulled down another child's pants and touched that child's private parts which happened on two separate occasions. During an investigation, it was confirmed inappropriate touching occured between two children. Resolution: Provider worked with the Child Care Resource Center to identify blind spots on the playground and inside the facility. Additionally, this provider has created a safety plan and has been in constant communication with the parents of both children.
