Description: Head Start is a federally-funded child development program designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs. Head Start’s approach is that the parent is the child’s primary educator and that the entire family, as well as the community, must be involved in guiding and nurturing the child. Over the past four decades, Head Start has touched the lives of more than 250,000 low-income preschool children and families at more than 140 locations in San Diego County.

My daughter has been in the Head Start program for two years and she is way ready for Kindergarten. The staff at O'Farrell Head Start are on it! They're very experienced and qualified. The staff is always working with you, never against you. Your little one might be a little shy at first but they'll get use to it. The program really promotes parent involvement and respect for others. They provide structure and routine, believe it or not it is well received with the children. My daughter has learned to care for the environment by recycling and not littering. She knows how to set the table and clear the table after she eats. The staff is friendly and soon you feel like family. You should strongly consider sending your pre-schooler to O'Farrell Head Start you won't regret it.
