Unfortunately, NextGen Prep my your child in this place. Management does not approach childcare with a trauma-informed lens. NextGen is happy to take state subsidy money while not putting in the work to make sure that their staff is adequately trained to teach and respond to children with diverse needs. The toddler rooms lack classroom management and structured classroom environments, and kids are kept cooped up in a very tiny space with only one adult in the room. Rather than management taking the responsibility to train and support their own staff, management chooses to put 100% of the blame on a 24 month old child. They label toddlers as bad and unteachable. They decide easily that some children are worth educating while others aren't.
They say in their manual that when issues arise, there will be a conference with parents and a plan put in place. What that actually means is that they will call you to give you a warning that they are getting ready to kick out your kid, ignoring any suggestions that you give or not actually giving enough time for any intervention to work. There is no written plan of action explaining how the classroom teacher and management are going to address the issue in a consistent and research-based fashion. The only person that can influence a 24 month old's behavior during the day is the teacher in the room. Instead, they believe that kids are bad and families are to blame.
NextGen Prep has now demonstrated a pattern of kicking out 2 year old children who have been in foster care. Please spare your child the additional trauma of having to leave the only daycare they've ever known; these kids have been through too much already. The management of this daycare chooses to perpetuate trauma instead of meeting children where they are at and nurturing every one of them.
If you need further convincing, they called me on my baby's 2nd birthday to tell me that they were going to kick her out; that is how little they care about a child that they had cared for since two months old. I'm appalled that I let her stay in this subpar environment for so long. All children, but especially those coming from hard places, deserve to be in places where they are wanted and loved. That won't happen at NextGen.
