Ncoe - Shearer Preschool

We have been operating preschool programs since 1969, and we are very proud that we are one of just a few county offices of education to do so. We believe that the more we invest in children, the better they will do. Today, we operate seven California State Preschool programs, which serve approximately 300 children in Calistoga, St Helena, Yountville, and Napa.

Our preschool programs provide children with skills in communication, literacy, math, and social development, which help prepare for and enrich their school experience. Our teachers are both nurturing and highly-trained, enabling them to meet each child’s individual needs.

Our environments and curriculum are designed based on the most current knowledge available in the field of child development. As a public school system, we operate within the parameters of both State and Federal law. As such our programs are aligned with the State Department of Education’s Desired Results system. The outcomes for children and families as defined by Desired Results are:

Children are personally and socially competent.
Children are effective learners.
Children show physical and motor competence.
Children are safe and healthy.
Families support their children’s learning and development.
Families achieve their goals.
