My grandson was in the Pre-K program this past school year. His teacher, Miss Sarah, was fabulous. There was plenty of love, respect, and genuine interest in the children. Their units( Arctic Animals, Bugs, Seasons, Bodies of Water, Weather) involved Reading, Math, Science, and Art. I was an elementary teacher for 43 years and was very impressed!!
The teachers who worked here were great. They have a true love for children and want the best for all of their students. Management was the downfall here. I never felt respected, appreciated, or felt like I could trust the management at bluebird. Employees were constantly micromanaged and I was only told things I was doing wrong. There was no sense of support. There would be days teachers would come in to work have their entire classrooms rearranged and students art work torn off the wall and thrown away by management. Employees would have to spend their own money on snacks and supplies for their classrooms due to not having enough snacks to make it through a month and being told their wasn’t enough money to purchase supplies and pay teachers. Employees and families were told there were video cameras installed for the safety of everybody but what wasn’t disclosed was that conversations are also recorded without the consent of the people partaking in them. There have been several staff members allowed to work alone in a classroom without having completed a background check. The turnover is very high. This facility is a toxic work environment which in turn how can employees provide their best care when they are not supported and put down by management on a regular basis? The teachers and families are kind. But don’t be fooled management is the core problem of this facility.
Management and staff don’t communicate and several times see children not being watched.walked outside and saw my child stuck and crying and no one paying attention.
In the beginning, all seemed great. The owner seemed genuine and sincere about her mission for what the daycare should look like and what leadership looked like for staff. However, as my employment continued, I was given unmanageable hours and was often sent home or told not to come in at all. This made is very difficult to have a secure pay. I was given dishonest excuses and was never treated as a true member of the team. In my time there, I put my heart and passion for teaching into the children, families, and staff to build a wholesome community. However, my employer never recognized my hard work and continued to ignore my progress. It made me feel unwanted and pushed out to where I looked for a better opportunity who saw my potential. I do not recommend this facility to seeking families or to those applying for this position because this is toxic work environment and daycare.
