About the Provider

Montessori is a teaching philosophy that was developed by Italian Physician, Dr. Maria Montessori, MD. Montessori is not a trademark, therefore it is imperative that parents and educators interested in the philosophy do their homework when searching for a Montessori school. The Montessori Philosophy cannot be truly incorporated into a classroom by an untrained teacher. Mission Montessori only employs AMS or AMI credentialed administrators and lead preschool and primary teachers. We are members of the American Montessori Society (AMS) and honor the AMS code of ethics www.codeofethics/ams.org

At Mission Montessori, the "follow the child" philosophy of Maria Montessori is embraced as the uniqueness of each child is celebrated. Children are free to work at their own pace as teachers make observations and introduce new material when a child shows readiness. Mixed-age grouping of children, usually a 3 year age span, enables students to learn from one another, gain autonomy and develop positive self-esteem. In addition, the classroom provides a family-like setting where learning can take place naturally. Younger children learn from older children and older or more experienced children reinforce what they have learned by teaching. Discover for yourself what makes Mission Montessori a peaceful place where children are loved and respected as individuals.
