My son has been blessed by the care at MTCC for the past 3 years. He has been there since he was 2 years old. I noticed right away that he is always greeted by name when he entered the classroom and bid farewell when he leaves. I regularly observe the staff interacting with the children whether it's helping with their academics, talking and interacting with them at a center, or engaging them in creative play and projects. The staff is constantly monitoring the children's growth through portfolio assessments which are so helpful to view at the parent-teacher meetings.

I also appreciate the healthy meals served each day. My son is willing to try new foods and gets a balanced diet while there...probably much more balanced than what is offered at home I must say!

It is not unusual to see the administrative assistant and director stepping in and caring for little ones that need some extra attention. Whether it's due to a teething or sick child, they are available to assist the classroom leaders.

I have appreciated MTCC and will continue to offer my support even as my son heads into Kindergarten this next year. Take the time to check out the center for yourself. (You'll be amazed at all the work hanging outside the classrooms!)

Methodist Temple Children's Center (MTCC) has been a leader in quality child care for many years, and continues to provide excellent care of young children. ALL staff who have responsibilities with children are trained with CPR, fist aid, appropriate discipline, and quality learning activities. The facility is among the best in the city, offering an indoor gross motor area, an art studio, and very safe and engaging playgrounds. The classrooms are spacious, we'll maintained, and full of high quality learning materials. Many teachers have degrees in early childhood education; one of the highest indicators for quality care.
My daughter was treated with love and respect. Her teachers were so kind! The director, Janice, was especially loving to children- and I have seen her many times soothing a fussy baby, giving TLC to booboos, and applauding when some new discovery is made by the children.
The governing board at MTCC pays careful attention to the operations of the center, and makes sure that the children at MTCC receive great quality food, supplies, and paid staff. I have many friends whose children also attended MTCC, and all of these families praise the attentive care their children received.

MTCC is such a wonderful place and I have always felt that this place has a loving, caring, and educational environment. I have 3 children and 2 of them attended MTCC from 6 weeks old until they graduated into Kindergarten. The environment was set up in Continuity of Care and they both stayed with the same primary caregiver until they were almost three years old. This gave my husband and I the unique opportunity to get to know the caregiver on a personal level as well as a teacher of our young children.
While in attendance, both of our children received services from First Steps, which was always greatly supported by Janice and their care provider. I have felt the warmth and care provided by staff to my children. The speech therapist from First Steps also made comments about the supportive care the staff provided to my children especially when we struggled with hearing loss and they were so patient. We kept Janice up to speed on the situation and she always took this information to the teachers of our son.
Another time when we were under total support from Janice was when our child had a restriction from running for 2 weeks. She made the necessary arrangements for our son to be able to enjoy being outside without having this negatively affect his care. He was still allowed to be with his friends, he was give lots of alternate things to do outside on the playground.
I would and do highly recommend people to MTCC as my children were 100% prepared for Kindergarten. They knew how to spell and write their name by age 3 1/2. They knew how to write all letters of the alphabet by age 4. They learned how to solve problems and learned how to make and keep friendships.
Although our oldest only attended for a few short months before starting Kindergarten, she still talks about the friendships she made and was able to keep once she started school.
I am pleased at the dedication of the staff have to obtain Paths to Quality Level 4 which involves NAEYC and a huge visit to the site. I could not think of a better decision than MTCC for overall care of my children and how lucky I am to have found such a nurturing and caring place for them to be and to teach them things that I do not have the time to teach.
Thank you MTCC for the best start my kids could have had to jump start their lives in a positive way!

My son is entering kindergarten this year and has been at Methodist Temple pretty much since birth. The staff there is very friendly, and well qualified relative to most child care in the area. I am continually impressed with how much my son learns, retains, and can retell after I pick him up in the evenings. I had a very different experience than the negative reviewer, and have nothing bad to say about the center.

My son has been attending MTCC for the past 5 years. For the first 3 years of his life, he was part of a Continuity of Care group where the children and staff in his group stayed together the whole time allowing him to build strong bonds with his teachers and friends. The quality of care he receives is exceptional.

At Kindergarten enrollment pre-test the kindergarten teachers were pleased with the readiness my child showed. He has learned how to make friends in many situations at school and at community events. He can read short stories and uses his creativity to create amazing projects based on his interests. Just this last week the children made their own Lego movies including backdrops and various sets they built.

The staff have been welcoming and caring. They show through the stories they share with me that they know my child.
The staff have showed a continued commitment to increased quality by attaining Level 3 on Paths to Quality, working toward their NAEYC Accreditation (They are currently awaiting a candidacy visit.), and are working with 4C of Southern Indiana on the CLIMBS project.

In my experience the staff and director have been very welcoming and have an open door policy. The staff has a very low turn over rate compared to many other centers with many staff members having been at the center for over 10 years.

When I first became pregnant I immediately started researching children centers through the 4C web site and wouldn't settle for anything below a level 3. I toured many centers and met with numerous directors. In meeting with the director at MTCC I was impressed with her knowledge of the early childhood education and was really impressed with paths to quality program and the fact that he would stay with the same teacher and care group for the first 30 months. We have been enrolled at Methodist Temple now for 2 years and have been very impressed with the development of our child. His vocabulary is strong, is developing the ability to interact with other kids and use his words when upset, and we look forward to watching his continued education. I also have to comment on the parent teacher conferences and how pleased I am that twice a year we get to meet with his teacher one on one and she shares with us the milestones that he has accomplished, shares photos with us from activities they did in the classroom, his art work, and also communicates with us on areas that need improvement. In our time being enrolled at MTCC I have always felt that communication with the teachers is encouraged and that I could also speak with the director about any issues or concerns. Of course not every center is perfect for everyone and I highly encourage you to research using the 4C program and NAEYC to find the right fit for you and your child.

For the past four and a half years, I have had direct contact with numerous care providers, the director, director of curriculum, and the board serving MTCC. Both of my children have attended the center since they were 6 months old. Both are advancing in their physical, emotional, and intellectual abilities at a pace beyond their age group. The activities they engage in are specific to their needs and abilities, and they are engaged in learning activities from the beginning of their day until they leave at the end of the day. My oldest daughter has been able to spell her first middle and last name since age 3 and can also recognize the names of all of her classmates, as an example.

We have experienced few matters of concern during our time at the center, all of which are typical issues which occur at any center, such as other children biting our children (all age appropriate behaviors). The classroom teachers were consistent in reporting the incidents to us and notifying us of the actions being taken to ensure the safety and comfort of our child without disclosing the other child's identity. The director, Janice, was extremely helpful in addressing the matter as well and consistently provides an open-door policy for addressing concerns.

All of my interaction with the employees of the center have been good, and in many cases exceptional. The diligence the center practices to ensure the center is top rated is impressive. They participate in the Paths to Quality program as well as NAEYC accreditation and the Gold standard food program.

For those considering enrolling your children at MTCC, I highly recommend that you schedule an on-site visit, meet the staff, and validate the information provided in this review through the 4Cs organization that aids in daycare placement in Vanderburgh County. You will not be disappointed in all that MTCC provides not only your child but also your family. We are delighted to be a part of this amazing family!
