I am licensed and insured home day care with CPR and First Aid certification. I have over twenty years of experience in child care. One of our core ideals is to make sure that your child is well prepared for school. We are committed to making your child feel welcome and motivated to learn new things. Little Star Day Care for children aged 6 weeks through 5 years. All programs at Little Star Day Care are appropriate for the developmental level of the child. All programs include opportunities for outdoor play, quiet reading time, art and crafts, games, music and dance, and free play. Our curriculum is theme based, with an emphasis on play-based learning. We focus on social relationships, language skills, problem solving, fine and gross motor development, self-help skills, and music and movement. In addition, we incorporate activities that promote letter, number, shape, and color recognition. We work to instill values with each child such as Respect, Caring, Patience, Politeness, Cooperation and Forgiveness.

After my son attended daycare here for 3 full and wonderful years, we sent our younger daughter here for two years as well. Maureen creates a loving, nurturing, active, and educational environment. She loves our children fully and gives them the best care. She makes extra efforts to celebrate holidays with them, does wonderful crafts, and manages super educational circle time and activities to give them structure to grow happily. We adore her and cannot recommend this loving environment enough!
My daughter has been at the little star daycare, run by the exceptional Ms Maureen for all most a year. I couldn’t be more happier. I have watched my daughter grow educationally and socially. She has learned how to pick up after
herself, which translates to her doing the same at home.You can tell Ms. Maureen she loves what she does.There is always some sort of art project going on weekly which my daughter loves.My daughter is always well taken care of here. The daycare is clean and always well arranged.Unfortunately, we are moving away from the area, hence we are withdrawing her. I hope we find somewhere as nice as The Little Star Daycare.
I cannot say enough positive things about Little Star Daycare and Maureen Fernando's care. Our son has gone there for three years (from infancy until now) and we credit his advanced vocabulary, social maturity and empathy for others in large part to Maureen's care. Maureen emphasizes academic learning with structured lessons and activities while leaving plenty of space for imaginative play time. She prioritizes communication, cognitive skills and emotional development as well. Our son has been very verbal since before 12 months and learned his colors, letters, numbers and more before age 2 thanks to her guidance. More importantly though, he also demonstrates care and compassion for others and Maureen actively works with him during times of transition when he is working through new emotions/anxieties. While I had mixed emotions about being a working mom at first, she has eased that transition immensely because I know he is growing, learning and having the time of his life at her daycare. We love her so much, we have reserved a spot for our daughter who was just born one month ago. She will start there and have the same wonderful experience as our son starting this spring. I highly recommend Maureen for all ages- including toddler and school age children (before and after care).
Maureen has been caring for my children for 3+ years now, starting with the oldest and now with the infant. The choice was easy when deciding where to take my infant given the wonderful experiences we have had with her with my oldest. The setting of the in-home daycare is just lovely and large enough space for a pre-school style setting (with space for infant recreation) and a separate eating area. It's quite nice to see that the entire first floor of the home has been turned into the daycare space. Maureen's care, affection, and attention towards the children does not go unnoticed in addition to how she keeps every child's personal possessions organized, from diapers, clothes, feeding, etc.... It also goes without saying everything is kept very clean, which is so critical! Needless to say, we have been and continue to be very happy with having our children in her care, as it provides a great piece of mind knowing we can drop them off and are in a safe, clean, happy, and learning environment!
Mrs. Fernando has been caring for my children for more than 4 years now. She is wonderful with both of my boys. I'm very happy to have such a warm and welcoming daycare so close to home. My children love her and they enjoy spending time in her care while learning.
My daughter has been with Ms. Maureen from age 10 months to 4.5 years and loves going to her "school" everyday. Ms. Maureen runs a wonderful, well-kept in-home family daycare, providing a loving environment, engaging teachers and interactive learning. My daughter has learned so much with the preschool curriculum provided - the alphabet, she counts to 100, prints letters and numbers, and of course loves play time, fun songs and arts and crafts. My daughter has thrived under the kindness, patience, and routine of this daycare. I highly recommend it.
Ms. Maureen and her staff are excellent childcare providers. My son is only 1.5 and he already knows his alphabet, colors, shapes, and numbers up to 10 thanks to her. Her daycare is also very focused on manners and kindness so each child learns not only to play with one another, but to behave well, too. :)
Miss Maureen and her home daycare have been a wonderful part of my two children's early lives. She is warm, caring and patient and clearly cares about all the children in her care. The home daycare is tidy and welcoming. I highly recommend this daycare.
Excellent childcare provider in a beautiful home. Since taking my child there, he has mellowed out tremendously. She is always kind and greats each child with a smile and hello. She is careful with all of the childcare materials I provide my son (i.e. diapers, food, sheets). Highly recommended.
