Description: Thurgood Marshall Elementary was named after the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, who died on January 24, 1993. In 1954, Thurgood Marshall argued the landmark case of Brown v. the Board of Education which effectively banned segregation. The school opened its doors to students for the first time in September, 1994 to meet the needs of a growing community.Thurgood Marshall Elementary serves the communities of Meadowbrook Woods, Valley Vue, River Bend, Barrington Oaks, Fern Brook, Lake Jackson, Foxmill, Gingerwood, Oak Ridge, Trails End, Vista Brook, Landview and Hunters Ridge.
