About the Provider

Markman Children’s Programs is a private nonprofit 501 (c) 3 child care agency. Our mission is to provide quality, affordable child care to all families. Established in 1972, the agency has expanded services over the years to meet the varied needs of families and currently offer programs for children ages four weeks to seventh grade in two center based sites and a Family Child Care System. Our many years of experience in providing early childhood services is a strength of our agency, giving us expertise in providing a quality program for children, and in developing supportive relationships with our families. Center based programs are open 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and operate year round. Transportation to and from homes and area schools is provided based upon need with our agency vans and a mini-bus. Our current capacity is just over two-hundred and sixty children. Markman Children’s Programs is in a Capital Campaign, with the goal of constructing Phase II which will add 11,000 square feet to our new facility at 803 North Main Street, currently 13,000 square feet. Phase I opened in October 2011 and added capacity for 24 preschool age children as well as housing 25 School Age children. The Board of Directors has a goal of completing Phase II by 2016, which will allow the relocation of the remainder of our School age classrooms currently housed at 505 North Main Street and provide care for another 150 children. Congressman James McGovern, Representative Betty Poirier, and Senator Scott Brown have attended agency events to learn of our future building plans, and have pledged their support.
