Manhattan Christian Academy Early Education (consisting of Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten) is a Christ-centered, play-based program designed to foster growth for the whole child. It is a part of Manhattan Christian Academy which is a fully accredited, private Christian school established in 1972 with a Preschool through 8th grade.

Preschool

We welcome children as young as 2 years 9 months. Children must be potty-trained to attend. Our student to teacher ratio in Preschool is 1:7. Each classroom has one lead teacher, one teacher’s assistant and up to 14 children. We base our Bible curriculum off the Jesus Storybook Bible to offer children a chronological overview of the Bible while building biblical literacy to lay the framework for gospel fluency. Children enjoy daily centers and play-based learning activities that connect to the following content throughout the school year:

-introduction to letter names (capital letters only)

     -numbers 0-10

     -8 basic shapes

     -9 colors

     -introduction to patterns

Pre-Kindergarten

Children must be 4 years old by September 1 to attend Pre-K at MCA. Every Pre-K classroom has one lead teacher, one teacher’s assistant, and up to 18 children. We use the Positive Action Bible curriculum to study Creation and the Fall, great men of the Bible, kings and prophets, and the life of Jesus. Children enjoy daily centers and play-based learning activities that connect to the following content throughout the school year:

-introduction to letter names and sounds through Fundations phonics curriculum

     -numbers 0-31

     -11 basic shapes

-introduction to patterns (AB, ABB, ABC)

Kindergarten

Children must be 5 years old by September 1 to attend kindergarten at MCA. Kindergarten classes will have no more than 15 children per every 1 adult. The kindergarten curriculum and schedule reflects the needs and the goals of kindergarten children: aspects of play are incorporated into reading and math, while students also practice study skills and academic behaviors necessary for future school success.

Kindergarten children follow the Positive Action Bible curriculum to study Creation and the Fall, great men of the Bible, kings and prophets, and the life of Jesus. The Fundations curriculum continues for phonics, and children move from recognizing and forming letters to writing short stories by the end of the year. My Math is a common-core aligned curriculum that includes concepts such as addition and subtraction, numbers 0-100, and 3-D shapes.
