Noncompliance Area: Children use an outdoor ramp to access the Outdoor Play Area and to re-enter the facility. Along the ramp, the children pass by two facility doors. Peeling paint was observed on the exterior door frames of these doors. Also, peeling paint was observed on the exterior door frame of an exit door in the Discovery Preschool Room. While in care, children exit and enter through this doorway. Chipped paint was observed on a radiator in the Discovery Preschool Restroom. Additionally, a soccer net with cracked plastic and torn fabric was observed in the Outdoor Play Area.

Correction Required: Peeled or damaged paint or damaged plaster is not permitted on indoor or outdoor surfaces in the child care facility. Toys, play equipment and other indoor and outdoor equipment used by the children shall be clean, in good repair and free from rough edges, sharp corners, pinch and crush points, splinters and exposed bolts.

On day the of inspection, the soccer net was immediately removed from the outdoor play space before children entered the play area. The item was discarded. Provider has made contact with a contractor/painter in order to fix the door frames/peeling paint on the exterior of the doors.
