All hazardous materials remain out of the reach of children. Directors and staff have discussed the incident that happened and what could have been done differently to ensure such never happens again. In addition, staff have received emails, videos, and have attended meetings that stress supervision. We have reached out to our ELRC Representative, Kathy Wolfe, and have discussed possible supervision trainings. At the moment we are awaiting the arrival of the certified letter to direct further actions regarding the appeals process. Once the letter is received, we will initiate the appeals process with our legal team.

All hazardous materials will be kept and remain out of the reach of children. In addition, the director has shared with all staff members the recent video put out by the ELRC Health and Safety Coach for Region 5, Holly Cessna. This video focused on not only Health and Safety issues, but Supervision as well. Staff have received emails and we have had staff meetings that stress what supervision is (being able to hear, see, access, and direct all children at all times), the importance of such, and maintaining supervision at all times. Directors continue to walk around the center hourly to observe what is happening in the classrooms and on outside play areas. During this time, directors also share with staff members any possible concerns or barriers to supervision that may be seen. Staff and directors discuss positioning of self so that the requirements of supervision are met. Directors continue to ask staff how many children they have, their oldest child, their youngest child, and names of the children during these walkthroughs. Plans for trainings on Supervision have been discussed with our ELRC Coordinator, Kathy Wolfe. Other changes that have been made include: Pacifiers are now being sent home nightly with the children for their parents to handle cleaning/sanitizing steps and all crockpot warmers in our facility were replaced with electric bottle warmers (5/24/23), which are filled and dumped after each use.
