Out of all of the day cares I interviewed, this one was the most comforting. Just like any other day care, sicknesses are passed around, but they do wash the kids hands as soon as they arrive and follow instructions for medicine. They also make healthy home-cooked meals everyday, it smells so tasty every morning that I drop off my 2-yr old son! :) I never had a problem with them losing his things, everything is labeled and each child has their own bin with their name on it to place their belongings in (a blanket, change of clothes, pacifier, sippy cups, and anything else). I was very nervous about sending my child to day care, we always had a private nanny, but this one is small and I know he is safe, well fed, learning a lot and having fun. He doesn't cry when I drop him off and is actually excited to play. When his Dad picks him up I'm told that he waves "bye bye" to all of his friends and is all smiles.
He started there about 6 months ago, for the first 2 months, he was getting a cold non-stop, but he was never exposed to a day care or school environment before and I feel like it has helped build his immunity for when he does start school. It was also cold season. Not all parents can stay home from work for the entire course of a cold. Little Angels still takes good care of my son. I also feel like he would have been worse at other day care considering the horror stories I hear. He hasn't been sick in about 4 months. This one is very clean, they clean so much every day that my kid comes home smelling like cleaning products lol. There is not much anyone can do besides clean and wash hands to prevent any type of illness running its course through any classroom. Kids carry germs.
The staff is very nice and I don't feel anything negative at all, they are actually very sweet. They do speak Spanish, and I do not, but we are able to communicate just fine with no misunderstandings. They take care of each child according to their individual needs, unlike other commercial day cares where they change diapers and feed only as scheduled. Little Angels Day Care in Whiting, IN is trustworthy and I was thankfully referred to them by trustworthy friends. I would recommend them.
