In May 2023 I called Launchpad learning center to schedule a tour to consider sending my granddaughter to their center. I was scheduled on a Sunday. I was sharing the story of how my grandaughter had teen parents and Mrs Rita then asked if the father had a birth certificate and that she didn't want any trouble with him coming to the center trying to pick up the baby. Also, as a side note the baby is on CCA assistance. The baby starts June 2023 and a couple of weeks later she develops like a rash/scaling on the back of her scalp. I take her to the dr and they say its a rash/non specified but that is was not ringworm. Mrs Rita called the dr office and questioned them about the diagnosis and said if the rash was not ringworm then what was it. Of course they told her due to HIPPA they could not provide her with information and then told me a Medical assistant told her it looked like ring worm. I called the dr office back and they confirmed she called and said they do not now who would of told her it looked like ringworm as no one there would have said that and also due to HIPPA would not have said that. She insisted the baby had ringworm. Again I took the baby to the dr. They said again it was not ringworm and she was not contagious and could return to daycare. Mrs Rita still insisted that if the rash was not ringworm then what was it and very argumentative. She called one day and said we needed to pick the baby up and that she could not return until she saw a dermatologist. I offered to take her to the PCP and she said she would not accept a dr note only from a dermatologist. I was able to get a dermatologist appointment and they confirmed the baby only had cradle cap and did not have ringworm. I do intend to speak with a pastor from the church and whoever else I need to address this situation. I am not concerned with the quality of care. I know they teachers will take good care of the baby. However, the way Mrs Rita disregarded the medical diagnosis and the control she believes she has over parents needs to be addressed. They justified their actions stating "the safety of our children is our top priority".
Had a very horrible unwelcoming nonchalant experience I came here on the 6th of February to enroll my son not knowing that I was Not supposed to Actually come to the center to enroll him the Director Rita was very short highly upset with me when I walked in mind you this is the first time having any interaction with this facility she embarrassed me so much that the “white” parents was looking at me with disgust as if I was causing a issue in which the only thing I did was get information return the packet as she instructed me to do … at this point I’m confused and worried if I get treated this way as a new parent how will my son care be when I’m a way first of all the phone is never answered at this facility Rita states that she can only be reached through email or text and that she don’t answer calls with an unfamiliar number but mind you she answered my call when I originally call for information…. Fast forward to 2/21 so at this point I’m more concerned because in between the time with the bad communication the back and forth her being short with me and the tour she set up I decided to give the center the benefit of all doubt I get it everyone is busy but this what took the cake she billed me $592 for childcare and my son is not to even start till 2/27 so I called her again with questions she said I don’t call CCA and I’m like “oh wow” so at this point I’m furious I called CCA and they tirelessly tried to call with no answer so just to make a ever long story short you have to be “white” for a better response from her now here’s one more thing my son came in with braids in his hair don’t you know , she called another black kid and referenced his hair to being alike HUGE RED FLAG ????…. Now I came to the church demanding to speak to the associate pastor in which he did respond to my email and took up for Rita and said he’s been knowing her for X amount of time and she loves people !!!! This truly sad experience that knowing a church is this way makes me begin to Wonder if it’s truly God that they are serving oh and another note I told her that in midst of all this can Cairo only attend for the month of March she told me No because I will not get all the money from the State” for him so is the money that’s important or the comfort and care of my child ? I have never been treated this way in even the worst daycares in Garland or Rowlett . If any part of this recommendation is blocked it’s because this is the hidden truth I have never been to this church or known anyone that’s affiliated. The pastor didn’t care neither in which he could of called me instead of responding by email to allow me to voice my concern and without bias defended her in her wrongful acts but he didn’t so is “he” truly a man of God ?
