Welcome To Lakes Child Care. My name is Denise Pugh and I have been a licensed childcare provider since 1996. I am married with 3 children of my own and also have 3 grandchildren. I am First-Aid and CPR certified every 2 years. My license enables me to care for up to 8 children at a time. My daily group size varies but will remain within the licensing guidelines. My goal is to provide quality, loving care for your child in a safe, comfortable family-like setting. I believe that play is a child's work. Children gain knowledge about the world through play-alone, with others and in groups. Children are born learners and are naturally curious. I believe that children should have fun! After all, even the experts agree that children learn the most through play. These carefree years are so short, and soon your child will be exposed to a much more structured form of learning. Many life-long skills are developed by seeing, hearing and modeling appropriate behaviors. Every day we work on life-long skills such as table manners, being polite to others and learning to share. We learn to share meals as a group, which is not always an easy task for a toddler or preschooler. We learn to be patient when it is not our turn or when Denise is helping another child. We learn what is and isn't acceptable behavior. Every child has a natural curiosity. I strive to find what interests all of the children in my care. Through a child’s play, one moment they can be a Mommy or Daddy taking care of their “children” and the next they can be a paleontologist, exploring dinosaurs or a doctor treating one of their patients. Their world is open to where ever their imaginations take them. Your child will have access to a variety of theme based curriculum and skill development activities, where my priority is for your child to learn and have fun.
