After hearing glowing recommendations for this school, I decided to call and set up a tour. During this tour (in which my son was not present due to COVID) my husband and I met with a teacher at the location on Abbington St. in North Port, the home location where I'm told the kids that go to VPK part-time attend. I was taken aback when a student approached the teacher and asked if she could paint. The teacher then told her no and to go sit down and do a worksheet, then looked at us, laughed and said, "That was weird". Now, normally I would not think anything of this, but what kind of teacher uses the word "weird" when discussing a STUDENT to another parent? My son is not what you'd call a "cookie cutter" child and would most definitely be the child asking out of the box questions, such as if he could paint at an unusal time, or asking all sorts of "weird" questions.... Another issue I had with this school is their lack of correspondence. I have twice tried to contact them via email to ask questions about registration and have gotten no reply. I have called and only gotten someone on the phone who sounded annoyed and too busy to speak. After considering what I've learned so far and reading other negative reviews for myself, I am less than impressed with this school and will not be sending my son here for VPK. I urge you to dig for yourself and ask yourself if you are alright with staff talking about your child like this to other parents behind their back. To me this is unacceptable and sad.
So we had a horrible experience with the school. First when given a tour we were told the tuition would be x amount and it ended up being more. Then we were told about Friday field trips that never happened. My wife was told on a Thursday that our son wasn’t allowed to return without any justification. After some discussion about finding another school my son remained for 2-3 more weeks. In this time the teachers thought they were doctors and were diagnosing my son with ADD and or autism. A week after their diagnosis to me we were told he couldn’t return for a certain amount of time, due to “COVID” and he never came back on the expected date, they never called or inquired how he was or where he was. And that it was known their vpk program was over booked for his age group so it seemed he was being weeded out. Extremely unprofessional IMO. Do not recommend sending your kid unless they are an apparent robot.
