Description: Highlands offers a traditional play-based program. For more than 50 years, Highlands Preschool has provided a warm and enriching environment to encourage and foster imagination and creativity. We encourage children to explore, discover and grow and to take an active part in the world around them.
School is held from 9am – 12noon. There is a 2 day/week program on Tues and Thurs for children who are at least 2 years, 9 months by Sept 1st and a 3 day/week class on Mon, Wed and Fri for children who are at least 3 years, 9 months by Sept 1st. Highlands is a cooperative preschool, which means that parents help support the school by volunteering in the classroom (approx. 1 time/month), assist the teachers with projects and attend 4 parent meetings.
At Highlands, we celebrate the spirit and uniqueness of each child by giving him or her the opportunity, every day, to feel challenged, celebrated, and valued. The teachers all have early childhood education credentials, in addition to many years of experience. Our teachers help to promote and develop basic social skills such as sharing, cooperation, and building relationships as they gently guide children towards Kindergarten readiness.
