About the Provider
The newest school in the district, Henry Leavenworth Elementary opened in the fall of 2010. During its construction, the community was invited to submit suggestions for naming the new school. A committee of community members chose to name the school after Col. Henry Leavenworth, who established Fort Leavenworth in 1927.
Henry Leavenworth Elementary, which is built on a hill overlooking the southwest part of the Leavenworth community, has a state of the art media center, art studio, and gymnasium. This school features a general use playground, sports field, and parking lots with three separate student loading areas. The building also has a FEMA certified storm shelter to ensure the highest level of student safety.
Henry Leavenworth Elementary is home to the district’s 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and 2013-2014 Elementary Teachers of the Year.
