Description:
Helping Hands preschool is a preschool program that consists of 12 students per class (typically 3 and 4 years old). It is unique in that it is part of the Wilton Public School system and run through Wilton High's Child Development program. Alongside two certified preschool teachers, high school students interested in Early Childhood Development are given the opportunity to help develop curriculum and volunteer in the classroom during school hours alongside the preschool teachers. This allows children in the school to receive increased one-on-one attention while exploring and developing new skills, as well as to create a special bond with many of the high school students. The use of the Wilton High School building allows preschoolers a wide variety of exciting events unique to the program. Some of these opportunities include: attending in-school music concerts, exploring animals in the Science rooms, molding pottery in the Fine Arts classroom, and a Springtime field trip.
