Description: The current Guyton Elementary School campus was constructed in 1988. An additional instructional area was incorporated during 1999 and again in 2003 to complete the facility as it is now. This building is situated on approximately 25 acres of land.
In 1993, GES received a grant from the Small Business Association's Tree Planting program. The grant allowed GES to develop a two acre tract into an arboretum and nature trail.
The trees are strategically planted. Name plates are beside each tree for identification. Winding paths ensure easy accessibility to all parts of the arboretum. The area includes an outdoor classroom for instruction. The arboretum includes trees of commercial, aesthetic, and conservational significance. As a teaching center it serves as a living demonstration in erosion control, forest management, species identification and uses, and disease and insect control.
