Description: Frank Jacinto Elementary opened in the fall of 2004 and was the first new school in Lorain built in the 21st century. The school was named after Mr. Frank Jacinto, who was not only a Lorain native, but also a leader in the Hispanic community, a former teacher in the school system, and the first Hispanic school principal in the State of Ohio. Mr. Jacinto also published a book on the history of Lorain’s Hispanic community in 1999, titledThe Mexican Community in Lorain, Ohio. The school is designed to hold 450 students and was created with an investment of $8.1 million, of which nearly 80% came from the state of Ohio.
